Reusable in e-commerce: Multiloop sets new standards in sustainability
E-commerce has an (environmental) problem: the large volume of parcels generates an immense amount of waste. In 2023, around 13 billion tons of paper waste was generated from 4.5 billion parcels in Germany alone. And the trend is rising.
The only sustainable solution: reusable packaging.
The target is ambitious. And yet – or perhaps precisely because of this - investors Schöller Group and FIEGE Logistik want to solve the problem. With their corporate start-up Multiloop, they offer efficient and attractive reusable packaging that saves valuable resources.
Each of the innovative packages replaces at least 30 disposable cartons and is returned to production at the end of its life cycle. Compared to conventional disposable cartons, the packaging saves up to 86% CO₂ and 93% water with each life cycle. In line with online shopping, the whole thing should work as simply as returning a deposit bottle. A revolution in sustainability, with denkwerk providing support with strategy, product design, communication and more.
From the idea to the experience – brand strategy and lean branding
Lean branding is ideal for start-ups in particular. It focuses on the essential components of a strong brand and thus combines consistency with flexibility. With the help of an integrated and collaborative lean branding approach, we were able to create the basis for a holistic brand experience for and together with Multiloop in a short space of time.
In addition to the positioning of the brand, it includes the logo, claim, CI, the design of the digital and analog business equipment, website and app as well as the product design for shipping packaging and collection containers.

Previous attempts to establish sustainable shipping products in e-commerce have struggled due to their complexity – especially in terms of extensive B2B processes, brand experience and user-friendliness. This is one of the reasons why denkwerk focuses on a holistic, inspiring brand experience in the strategic direction and design of the brand. From the box design to the collection container, we focus on attractiveness, participation and a consistently positive experience. That's why, in a collaborative process, we decided on a colorful and expressive box design – in line with the brand's direction.

Starting with the right go-to-market strategy and a convincing sales deck through to effective communication measures - the denkwerk team also provides support here.
